Prisms of Sinnoh is a zine focused on portraying the Sinnoh region from the Pokémon games, including its characters, Pokémon, locations, and the story of Diamond, Pearl, Platinum and their remakes Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.This zine aims to be physical and for charity. It will feature illustrations, writing, merchandise and potentially alternate mediums.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

During the contributor application process, a few things will be asked of you. Please remember to provide all requested samples, and if using Google Drive, to set link sharing to “on”. If we cannot access your work or your samples are incomplete, we will have to disqualify your application, so please double check everything is completed on your form!Artists
- We will be grading artist applications based on grasp of anatomy, use of colour, piece composition, and other artistic fundamentals.We will require of you:
- A link to your portfolio with at least 5 completed SFW pieces in it; this can be a Google Drive link, social media account, your own website, etc; as long as we have access to view what’s inside! Please do not submit NSFW-only portfolios. We also ask that any explicit content in portfolios be in a separate, appropriately-tagged category, if included at all.
- 3 SFW examples of your best work, ideally fully coloured with backgrounds, reflecting the standard of work you would like to contribute to this zine.
- Works featuring Pokémon and Pokémon characters are encouraged but not required.
- At least one pitch of what you would like to portray in the zine. The more detail the better!Writers
- We will be grading writer applications based on story flow, characterisation, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.We will require of you:
- A link to your portfolio with at least 5 completed SFW pieces in it; this can be an AO3 or Fanfiction.net account, Google Drive link, your own website, etc; as long as we have access to view what’s inside! Please do not submit NSFW-only portfolios. We also ask that any explicit content in portfolios be clearly, appropriately tagged, if included at all.
- 3 SFW examples of your best work, reflecting the standard of work you would like to contribute to this zine. We ask that they are between 500 – 2,500 words for prose (about 100 words of ‘wiggle room’ are allowed).
- For other writing types, such as travelogues, diary entries, etc, we ask that pieces be between 100 – 1,500 words.
- At least one sample must be a complete piece of work in order to see how you can work with the zine’s assigned word count. Your second and third samples can be either excerpts edited to function as complete works, or other complete works within the word count.
- Works featuring Pokémon and Pokémon characters are encouraged but not required.
- At least one pitch of what you would like to portray in the zine. The more detail the better!Merch Artists
- We will be grading merch artist applications based on suitability of your designs to the merch in question, grasp of anatomy where applicable, composition, and use of colour.We will require of you:
- A link to your portfolio with at least 5 completed SFW pieces in it; this can be a Google Drive link, social media account, your own website, etc; as long as we have access to view what’s inside! Please do not submit NSFW-only portfolios. We also ask that any explicit content in portfolios be in a separate, appropriately-tagged category, if included at all.
- 3 SFW examples of your best work, reflecting the merch style you would like to contribute. If you have photos of produced merch, feel free to show us, but digital designs are also welcome and will not affect your chances of being accepted.
- Showing examples of merch designs that you would like to make for this zine is recommended. E.g. if you would like to make a charm for the zine, including charm designs in your samples.
- Works featuring Pokémon and Pokémon characters are encouraged but not required.
- At least two different pitches of artistic concepts you would like to create based on the merch items listed in the application. The more detail the better!

CONTRIBUTOR INFORMATION

We ask our contributors to adhere to our schedule and work to the best of their ability! Of course, we understand that life happens, in which case we will be more than happy to grant you extensions should you ask in advance.We ask of you:General Expectations
- Contributors are required to be at least 16 years old by the time of application.
- Be polite, kind, and considerate to your fellow contributors and the mods; no rude or inappropriate behaviour will be allowed and may result in your ejection from the project.
- Have a Discord account, or be willing to make one for all major communication.
- Keep us in the loop: turn in check-ins on time, or ask for extensions at least 24 hours in advance. If you ghost the project, you may forfeit your position in the zine.Artists
- Create one full piece (A5 size) that adheres to your accepted pitch.
- Mod Kait will provide feedback prior to final submissions, but you are more than welcome to ask for feedback at any part of the process!Writers

A zine is an anthology of creative content, collected in a single book and centered around a given theme. This zine welcomes page artists, writers, merch artists, spot artists, and alternate media creators to celebrate Sinnoh!☆ Who can contribute?
Anyone 16 years or older at the time of applications closing is welcome to apply!☆ How many contributors will be accepted?
These final numbers are all subject change based on our interest check results, applications received, and final finance specs; we aim to accept roughly 20-25 page artists (including alt. media creators), 3-5 writers, 3-5 spot artists, and 3-5 merch artists.☆ Will this zine be physical or digital?
This zine aims to be both physical and digital, pending interest check results!☆ Will this zine be for-profit or for-charity?
This zine is a charity project — all profits will be donated to our chosen charity upon completion of the project.☆ How will contributors be compensated?
All contributors will be guaranteed a full digital bundle and the ability to purchase any physical items at production cost.Pending adequate sales during pre-orders, we hope to compensate for shipping or the cost of items entirely—we aim to cover a full bundle for each contributor.Profits not spent on item compensation will be donated to a charity of our contributors’ choice, as noted above. A full breakdown of compensation tiers will be available upon acceptance to the project.☆ What is this zine’s rating?
This zine is rated T by AO3 guidelines. This includes canon-typical levels of violence, non-graphic descriptions of injuries, romantic descriptions without explicit sexual interaction, and descriptions of grief and trauma responses.☆ Will ships be allowed?
Any ships depicted will either be canon or ambiguous at the mods’ discretion. Applicants are welcome to apply with samples containing ships, as long as they adhere to our application guidelines.☆ What exactly is allowed in this zine?
We will focus on content from the D/P/Pt/BD/SP games canon! OCs are welcome as background characters and in applications, but we ask that the main characters of contributor pieces are focused on canon characters, Pokémon, and locations in the media. Canon-divergent content may be included at the mods’ discretion; AUs are not the focus of this zine.Creation details may reference Pokémon Masters but content should not reference any events exclusive to it.
